113 éves a Rotary! (English summary)

A Rotary Club Budapest-Sasad a “Gyermek Alvás Laboratórium” pályázat megnyerésével ünnepelt!

113 éves a RotaryA Rotary Foundation jóváhagyta 37.200 USD értékű műszerpark beszerzését a Szent János Kórház Észak-Budai Egyesített Kórházak részére.

Mi a feladata a Gyermek Alvás Labornak?

Mi felnőttek is a rendszeres horkolással éjjel oxigén hiányos állapotban alszunk.

113 years of ROTARY!

This is how we celebrate the 113rd anniversary of Rotary

Thanks to many people’s personal contribution we finally have managed to get the Paediatric Sleeping Laboratory Global Grant application granted.

What is a Sleeping Laboratory doing?

A Paediatric Sleeping Laboratory exists within the frame of the Saint John’s Hospital in Budapest. The Hospital provides a countrywide medical attendance in paediatric neurology. Dr Madarasi and Dr Altmann are engaged in this work for many years. Children with any kind of sleeping disorders or sleeplessness are referred from all over the country to this place. By having the Grant, we could substantially amend the existing lab with new and modern equipment and develop a state-of-the-art sleeping laboratory to fully screen around ~150 additional children a year. By this we could possibly prevent them from developing more serious mental/neurological disorders. The “Little Ones” Foundation – To Help Children” is a foundation that works together for many years with the Saint John’s Hospital. Their aims are similar: The Foundation provides help to the Hospital. The Grant could help their joint efforts in treating ill children with sleeping and other neurological disorders.

Is children’s sleeplessness a serious condition?

Around 10% of children may experience night hypoxia, (oxygen deficiency while sleeping), which, if persistent, can cause serious damage to the child’s cognitive functions (attention, memory, etc.) and behaviour. Through the system to be set up by the help of the Grant an early detection of neurologic or otolaryngologic lesions will be possible, so later damages can be prevented.

Rotarians wanted to help by the contribution of the Grant in buying an essential piece of equipment to the Laboratory dealing with such sleeping disorders of children in the Saint John’s Hospital in Budapest.

At this point we say thank you to all our Rotarian friends who contributed to achieve this by their work and by their financial undertaking that have largely contributed to this success!

We will do our best to use their confidence in the best manner, and we are really sure that the help we provide to the ill children through the Rotary Grant is the best “investment” we can make.

Our special thanks go to the following Rotary Clubs:
